Emergency Response Small Grant

The American Society of Primatologists (ASP) Emergency Response (ER) Small Grant provides urgent financial assistance—up to $4,500—for primate populations (both wild and captive) and nearby communities who are experiencing emergencies that affect the welfare of primates, primate environments, and/or humans in direct or indirect contact with these primate populations. This grant is designed to support researchers, conservationists, caretakers, and locals facing unexpected crises, such as natural disasters, political instability, or unforeseen threats to primate populations and nearby communities.

Funds may be used for immediate field interventions, emergency medical care, habitat protection, rebuilding infrastructure, or other critical emergency-related needs. There is no application deadline for this ER Small Grant. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis to ensure rapid support for those in need for as long as funds are available each year.

Application Requirements:

To apply, log on to the ASP website and fill out the ASP Emergency Response (ER) Small Grant Application, here. If you are not an ASP member, you will need to create a profile (username and password) in order to apply for this grant. If you encounter any issues with the application process, please email membership@asp.org.

Applicants, research teams, and site locations that have previously received this grant will not be eligible to apply again for one year following dispersal of funds.
