The Awards and Recognition Committee (ARC) has the special responsibility of recognizing and awarding deserving primatologists with a strong commitment to the field worldwide, always with a spirit of impartiality, honesty, and equity. ARC oversees the administration of annual call for award proposals and nominations related to both travel awards and society recognition awards, reviewing those submissions, and making proposals of awardees to the Board of Directors.

The Conservation Committee is a group of primatologists within the society who organize and facilitate activities that support conservation efforts worldwide. The main goals of the Conservation Committee are to raise funds for primate conservation grants, review conservation grant proposals, and support primate conservation goals through fundraising, education, and outreach. Annual activities including a silent auction, raffle ticket fundraising, and conservation education campaigns are often accompanied by a year-specific goal or project.

The DEIA Committee of the American Society of Primatologists works to foster a diverse, equitable, inclusionary, and accessible culture by providing advocacy, resources, and guidance to members and leadership. Our scope includes advising on DEIA considerations for society initiatives and annual meetings, promoting diversity in membership, facilitating discussions on pertinent issues, and implementing programming that addresses and promotes inclusivity in primatology. Current goals include strengthening collaborations both within and between societies at large, expanding language availability of ASP related publications, and improving the overall accessibility of annual society meetings to all.

The Education Committee works to advance primatology education by supporting the development of academic programs, improving instruction, and sharing information on training and career opportunities. Committee members promote primate education and outreach within their own institutions and communities, while collectively we organize key initiatives at the annual meeting, including the student/trainee competition and the Kyes Award for Excellence in Educational Outreach.

The Finance and Membership Committee is chaired by the current Treasurer and President-Elect. The committee is responsible for assisting with fund raising efforts, as well as efforts for recruitment and retention of members. Our goal is to increase membership by 5% each year, through a variety of membership campaigns.

The Media and Engagement Committee plays a vital role in sharing updates and announcements for ASP through our official social media channels—including Facebook, Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), BlueSky, and LinkedIn. Our members collaborate to create and post compelling photo and video content, interact with followers, and help grow and strengthen our online community. In addition to managing ASP’s social presence, some committee members support other ASP committees by developing content and campaign strategies. Others contribute as Historians by documenting events and capturing key moments from our annual meetings.

The goals of the Primate Care Committee include advocating for the appropriate care and welfare of nonhuman primates in all settings and serving as a resource on research findings and methods related to primate care. We develop and teach unique pre-conference workshops focused on welfare topics, update resources on the ASP Welfare page, curate quarterly Hot Topics, and create accessible educational materials and webinars. The Primate Care Committee cooperates with other organizations regarding issues of appropriate primate care. We encourage scientific investigation of appropriate primate care through conference symposiums, welfare grants and scientific presentation awards.

The Program Committee’s primarily responsibility is the program for ASP’s annual conference. Members of the Program Committee primarily advise on the selection of plenary speakers, evaluate proposals for symposia/roundtables/workshops, and review abstracts. Select individuals on the committee also prepare the post-conference supplement in the American Journal of Primatology, coordinate continuing education credits for veterinarians who attend the conference, and helps coordinate additional virtual programming opportunities throughout the year, and the committee chair handles organizing and finalizing the program each year.

The ASP Publications Committee assists the Society in matters related to our formal publications. This involves helping to review our contracts with American Journal of Primatology, providing assistance as requested by the Editor or the Editorial Board, making recommendations to improve publications, considering publication options to ensure the membership is well served, and providing information to the membership.

The goal of the Research and Development Committee is to promote research by members of the ASP community and to foster understanding of the range and importance of this work.
