The primate pet trade in the U.S. continues to put thousands of primates, often infants and juveniles, at risk of isolation, lack of social interactions with peers, poor nutrition, and potentially an early death. With this campaign focusing on education and the heightened pet trade on social media, we hope to spread the word that primates are wild animals, not domesticated pets, and that our efforts at protecting them should be focused on protecting wild habitats and studying wild primates. Help us shift the focus from primates as pets to learning how to better protect them in the wild. Spread the word by sharing posts with friends, students, relatives, and support the ability of the ASP Conservation Committee to provide grants and support for research and community projects.

Have your congressional representatives and senators signed onto the bills? Writing to them, encouraging your networks to do the same, and sharing our campaign message takes only a few minutes, but sends a powerful signal. Here is a template letter that can be sent to show your support.
