Grants
All ASP student members are eligible to apply for any grant offered by the Society. Applicants may only apply for one type of grant each cycle.
Small General Grant
This funding mechanism supports research on primate behavior, social organization, development, reproduction, physiology, anatomy, and/or evolution.
Funding Amount: $500-$2000
Deadline: June 14, 2024
Conservation Small Grant
This funding mechanism supports conservation research or related projects, including conservation education. Those from habitat countries are encouraged to apply.
Funding Amount: up to $2000
Deadline: January 31, 2024
Melinda Novak Primate Welfare Grant
This funding mechanism supports research projects designed to improve the lives of primates in any setting that are highly impactful and innovative.
Funding Amount: $500-$2000
Deadline: June 14, 2024
Travel Awards
Travel awards are intended to help offset the cost of attendance at an ASP annual meeting for those who would otherwise not be able to attend. Student members may only apply for one type of travel award per funding cycle.
Ruppenthal Student Travel Award
All student members are eligible to apply. Latin American students are especially encouraged, as one award per year will be specifically designated for a student in this region.
Funding Amount: $500
Deadline: March 21, 2024
Steve Ross Primate Welfare Travel Award
All members are eligible to apply. The applicant should be presenting a study that focuses on animal welfare and improving the lives of primates in a zoo or sanctuary setting.
Funding Amount: $1500
Deadline: March 21, 2024
Meeting Presentation Awards
These awards are given in recognition of outstanding presentations at the ASP annual conference.
Student Presentation Award
This award is given in recognition of high quality presentations that are first-authored by students.
Deadline: extended to August 16, 2024
Primate Welfare Presentation Award
This award is given in recognition of high quality presentations on primate welfare research.
Deadline: September 1, 2024
Recognition Awards
The Society presents multiple awards annually to recognize individuals who have made outstanding contributions in primatology. See the main ASP Awards page for information about all Society recognition awards.
Conservationist Award
This award supports students and early career researchers from habitat countries for contributions to primate conservation.
